Director’s message
John Piggott

CEPAR’s work continues to be shaped by the urgent policy questions arising from population ageing – how to ensure economic security in later life, maintain equity across generations, and design retirement and aged care systems that are sustainable, resilient and inclusive.

In July, CEPAR will host the Policy Dialogue on Intergenerational Equity in Canberra. This flagship event provides a forum for policymakers, researchers and stakeholders to engage directly with evidence on how the costs and benefits of population ageing are shared across generations, and how policy settings can better balance adequacy, equity and longterm sustainability. The Dialogue reflects CEPAR’s longstanding commitment to informed, constructive engagement with government and the policy community on complex demographic challenges. If you would like to join on July 20, please register your details.

Later in the year, CEPAR and the School of Risk & Actuarial Studies at UNSW Business School look forward to welcoming researchers, industry and government representatives from Australia and overseas to the 34th Colloquium on Pensions and Retirement Research which will be held at UNSW Sydney on 2-3 December. The Colloquium remains Australia’s premier academic forum on pensions, superannuation and retirement income, bringing together leading researchers with government and industry participants to share cuttingedge research and emerging policy insights. The program committee currently invites submissions on pensions and retirement topics – if you would like to submit, more details are available in the Call for Papers.

Alongside these events, CEPAR research continues to deliver strong impact. Our researchers have contributed evidencebased insights to national public discourse on superannuation, retirement income policy and the role of housing wealth, while new publications explore behavioural finance, aged care funding and the distributional effects of ageing in both Australian and international contexts. We are also delighted to celebrate recent recognition of CEPAR researchers for outstanding contributions to policyrelevant research, alongside continued global engagement through conferences and invited seminars.

I encourage you to join us at our upcoming events as we continue to advance evidencebased understanding of population ageing and its policy implications.
